Formation period

A formation period.

2 months since the last post, I’ve started a Masters degree and my work hours have changed very little. It’s similar to when I didn’t study - full time hours per week with a full time study load as well. This is manageable for the time being as it’s still early days of the degree. I’m just trying to save up a little more so that I won’t have to worry about living costs, etc later into the semester. Taekwondo is going well too - training about 5 times a week. This has been a great study and work break that’s been keeping me mentally and physically healthy.

But what’s not manageable on top of the things at the moment are the first-born responsibilities and duties. Being present and to be solving my parents’ and siblings’ problems. I’m very close to them so I’m present for them. I’ve currently been meditating to put myself at ease with the fact that they don’t take my circumstances into consideration when they just give me problems to face and solve for them. Ammunition constantly being fired to as I continue to stack up the building blocks for my mental fortress - has been tiring but I am now at a point where I’m barely shaken up by anything. I feel safe.

In other news, I touched 72.5kg

10 days ago - This was amazing. I felt great. I’m trying to cut down to 70kg to be light as I do taekwondo, plus to get the physique I want. I haven’t lost much muscle which has been great.

Today - 10 days later, (though I’ve just had dinner) I’m 76.5kg. On an empty stomach I think I’d be about 76kg. So in 10 days I put on 3.5kg.

I’ve found that for me - watching what I eat has been difficult with my work, study and training schedule. To meet the needs of the duties in a managerial position out of one of my jobs, I need mental clarity and energy so I tend to make sure I eat a little more just in case anything happens and this has been getting my weight up a bit. It’s possible to cut while maintaining a healthy diet, but just a tad difficult. It’s very much a mental thing.

I was doing really well 10 days ago but have side-tracked a bit.

My goal is to touch 70kg by or on the first of April.

I can do it.

2 weeks ago, I started a Master of Translating and Interpreting with Korean as my LOTE (Language Other Than English), to study this degree in the direction of Korean -> English. The coming week (18th March - 24th March) is Week 3.

I got an offer from Monash University to do a Translation course with my LOTE and a Translation and Interpreting course offer from RMIT. I chose the latter. Having done my undergraduate degree there, I wanted to continue at Monash but chose RMIT in the end. I don’t regret it though. I’ll tell you more about it later. One thing I’m excited about is meeting my Korean tutor in week 5. I get to have a tutorial with them for about 7 weeks as part of one of the units I’m undertaking. Otherwise, it turns out there are no Korean students doing this degree in the year above me as well as this year as well. Though I am disappointed that I don’t have a Korean student I can practice interpret with, I’m not disheartened and am determined to become a great interpreter and translator. I will have to practice on my own for now.

First Semester of my post-graduate degree, I’m taking a class in the Theory of Translation and Interpreting, one in Interpreting and another in Ethics and Professionalism.

This month’s focus is: University studies, making sure I make a nice overall glossary, that I stay on top of my study load and practice translating and interpreting also. Reach 70kg by reducing my daily intake of food - to be on a calorie deficit and to increase my exercise load. Another thing to focus on is to not eat late at night. Having an amazing appetite all the time and a body type that puts on muscle and fat is amazing but makes it challenging while I cut.

I’m editing a Vlog too. I’ll upload it by this week. Nearly done there.

See u soon!
